Day 51: The Watchface That Fixes Being Late
You know someone like this. Maybe you are someone like this. The meeting is at 10:00. They show up at 10:12. Every time. Not dramatically late — just consistently, predictably, maddenly late by the same amount.
I built a watchface for that.
Meet Never Late
Never Late is a Garmin watchface available now on the Connect IQ Store. The concept is disarmingly simple: the watch displays a time that is offset from the real time by however many minutes you configure.
If you're always 10 minutes late, set it to +10 minutes. Your watch will show 10:00 when the real time is 9:50. Your brain reads 10:00, panics slightly, and you leave on time. It works because it bypasses the rationalisation that happens when you know what the real time is.
You can also go negative — if you're someone who always arrives annoyingly early and wants to slow down, set it to -5 and give yourself a bit more breathing room.
How to set it up
- Open the Garmin Connect IQ Store on your phone
- Search for "Never Late"
- Tap Download — it will sync to your watch automatically
- On your watch, long-press the screen or the top button to enter watchface settings
- Select Never Late as your active watchface
- Open the Connect IQ app on your phone → tap the watchface settings → set your offset in minutes (positive to run fast, negative to run slow)
- Save and sync — the offset takes effect immediately
The rest of the watchface works exactly as you'd expect: date, steps, heart rate, and battery are all there. The only thing that changes is the time shown on the face.
Why this works psychologically
The trick isn't really about the watch. It's about removing the in-the-moment calculation. When you know your watch runs fast, part of your brain automatically compensates — "it says 10:00 but it's only 9:50 so I have time." Never Late works best when you set it and genuinely forget about the offset. Give it a few days and the deception becomes automatic.
Some people use two watches for this exact reason — a regular one for workouts, Never Late for daily life. That might be extreme. Or it might be exactly what you need.
Send this to someone who needs it
If you have a friend, partner, or colleague who is chronically late — send them this page. It's cheaper than the awkward conversation, and it might actually work.
Do you want to keep it for free?
Once the BETA period ends on the current Never Late watchface, it will become paid.
If you want to keep it for free, you'll need to download an alternate version of the watchface that has "with trial" in the title. After the free trial, you'll be able to use this promo code to unlock it for free forever: ONTIME26
Enjoy!
