Set a Heart Rate Alert So Your Garmin Watches Your Zone 2 Run For You

Most runners stare at their screen the whole run trying to stay in Zone 2. Set a heart rate alert instead and your Garmin buzzes the moment you drift out.
Day 111: Let Your Garmin Watch Your Zone 2 Run
Doing an easy Zone 2 run? Your Garmin can buzz the moment your heart rate leaves that zone — so you don't need to check the screen every thirty seconds.
Most runners never turn this on, and end up staring at their wrist the whole run instead of just running.
How to set it up
- Start (or edit) your run activity profile
- Go to Run Settings → Alerts
- Select Add New → Heart Rate
- Set a custom range around your Zone 2 target (for example, your Zone 2 lower and upper bound)
- Save
Now just run
The moment your heart rate drifts above or below the range, your watch buzzes. No need to glance down constantly — you'll feel it the second you need to adjust your effort. Let the watch do the watching, and spend the run actually running.
