Day 34: I Got Soaked — And It Was Entirely My Own Fault
I had the Rain app installed on my Garmin. It works perfectly. I still came home completely soaked.
The reason: I'd been testing some development stuff on my watch and had turned notifications off. I forgot to turn them back on — and forgot to manually check the app before heading out. By the time I was 10 minutes into my run, the skies opened up.
What the Rain app actually does
It sends a notification to your wrist X minutes before rain arrives at your exact GPS location — not a general forecast, but live radar data pinpointed to where you are. In normal use, it's almost always in time before you leave for a run.
How to use it right
- Make sure notifications are allowed on your watch and are turned on inside the Rain app
- Or just open the app manually 10–15 minutes before heading out — one tap, instant radar graph
