Coros Pace 4 Pro vs Garmin: what $449 buys you

Coros launched the Pace 4 Pro on 22 September 2026 at $449 / €449 / £389, and on paper it reads like a watch that should cost a lot more: a 1.47-inch LTPO AMOLED running at up to 3,500 nits, a titanium bezel, sapphire glass, 32 GB of storage, full offline maps, and up to 60 hours of GPS. At 51 g with the silicone band it's in the same weight class as a Forerunner 570.

The two Garmins it lands between are the Forerunner 570 at $549.99 and the Forerunner 970 at $749.99. Here's the honest side-by-side.

Where the Coros genuinely wins

• Battery, and it isn't close. 60 hours of GPS against 18 on the 570 and 26 on the 970. Even in its most accurate dual-frequency mode it does 40 hours, which is still nearly double what the 970 manages with multi-band on
• Maps at this price. The cheapest Forerunner with full offline maps is the 970 at $749.99. Coros puts them on a $449 watch
• Materials. Sapphire and a titanium bezel are 970-class parts. The 570, a hundred dollars more expensive than the Coros, gets Gorilla Glass 3 and aluminium

The two things people forget to check

These are the gaps that don't show up in a spec list, and they're the ones that decide whether you'd actually be happy with the watch.

1. There is no app store. Garmin has Connect IQ: thousands of watch faces, data fields and apps. Want a tide app on your wrist, a different watch face every day, or a custom data field for your race? On a Garmin you install it in a minute. Coros has a fixed library of watch faces it makes itself and no third-party apps at all. Nothing on this site runs on a Coros, and neither does anything else anyone has built.

2. There is no offline streaming music. Both brands let you leave your phone at home with music on your wrist, but only Garmin syncs offline playlists from Spotify, Deezer and Amazon Music. The Pace 4 Pro plays MP3 files you copy across yourself, to Bluetooth headphones. If your music lives in a streaming subscription, which for most people it does, that means either carrying your phone or going back to managing music files like it's 2009.

Two smaller ones worth knowing: there are no contactless payments, so no paying for coffee mid-long-run, and sensors connect over Bluetooth only, so an ANT+ chest strap or power meter may need rethinking.

So which one?

If what you want is a light running watch with maps and a battery that outlasts your training block, the Pace 4 Pro is a lot of watch for $449, and Coros has clearly aimed it straight at the 570.

If you want the watch to also be the thing on your wrist for the other 23 hours of the day, Garmin's advantage is the ecosystem rather than any single spec: apps and watch faces you can change whenever you like, offline playlists from the service you already pay for, and paying without your wallet.
