Day 88: A Better Photo Watchface for Garmin

Garmin's Face It tool can put a personal photo on your watch, but it offers limited control over the result. If you want your image to remain the focus while still choosing the data, colors, and layout around it, Photo Pro gives you many more options.

Start with one photo for free

The free basic version of Photo Pro supports one photo at a time and a basic selection of stats. That is enough to test how your own picture looks on the actual display before paying for anything.

Choose an image with a clear subject and leave some quiet space for the clock and data. A wide landscape or busy group photo may look great on a phone but become unreadable on a small round watch.

What you can customise

  • Time, seconds, AM/PM marker, colors, and larger text.
  • Health and activity fields such as steps, heart rate, Body Battery, stress, recovery time, and VO2 max, depending on the watch and license.
  • Weather, sunrise and sunset, battery, notifications, and alternate time zones.
  • Always-on-display and night battery-saver options for supported screens.
  • Integrations with compatible apps such as Hydration PRO and Rain.

Store up to seven memories

The Max license includes the Pro features and lets you save up to seven photos. You can rotate through a different memory for each day of the week or change the picture from the watch with a long press on supported devices.

Pro and Max are optional one-time purchases rather than subscriptions. Features depend on the Garmin model, and the Connect IQ listing shows compatibility for the watch connected to your account.

How to install it

  1. Open the Connect IQ Store on your phone.
  2. Search for Photo Pro and install it on your compatible watch.
  3. Open its settings in Connect IQ, upload your photo, and choose the clock and data layout.
  4. Sync the watch and check readability in both bright and dim conditions.

Your watchface is something you see dozens of times per day. A personal photo is worth using only when the time and the information around it remain easy to read.
